What to Look for in a Party Bus Company

  1. Make sure they're legal.  Party buses are required by Federal DOT regulations to display their DOT number on their bus.  If they don't have one shown, they're most likely illegal.  You can do a check on a company by going to this website: http://www.safersys.org/CompanySnapshot.aspx.
  2. Make sure they're insured. Any reputable company shouldn't hesitate to show you their insurance card.  Federal regulations require any vehicle carrying 15 or more passengers to carry 5 million dollars worth of liability insurance.  Some startup companies will try save some money by trying to get around this.
  3. Check accident history. This can also be found on the http://www.safersys.org/CompanySnapshot.aspx.  If the company has a history of accidents it's probably a good indication you don't want to book with them.
  4. Years of operation.  If a company has been around for a while they know what they're doing.  From drug tests to driver safety programs, most companies that have been around long enough are complying with Federal and State regulations.
  5. Make sure they have a contract.  A contract is for your protection and for the protection of the party bus company.  Without a contract or something in writing, a company can take your payment without a guarantee to provide service.
